Welcome to Scoil Mhuire NS (Moynalvey NS)
Scoil Mhuire (Moynalvey NS, Roll Number 18344I) is a small school with a big heart. At Moynalvey NS we have great pride in our school, and we strive to provide a happy, friendly, caring environment, where children feel secure and valued. Children are encouraged to develop self-discipline and mutual respect for each other and for all adults in an atmosphere that promotes learning and excellence, enabling children to fulfil their true potential.
We are proud of our school community; our teachers, our pupils and our parents all of whom cooperate to create a school that is inclusive and caring. Over the years our school is continually at the forefront of new and exciting developments for Primary Schools. Some of these innovative initiatives are our Green Schools Project, our Active Flag and our Health Promoting School status. No challenge is too demanding for our committed, energetic and highly qualified staff. Whether it’s the introduction of new programmes or creating new opportunities for our students, Moynalvey NS is continually promoting excellence in all aspects of school life for the children that attend it.
I am honoured to serve as Principal of Moynalvey NS. I am extremely grateful to the hard work and goodwill of our school community: our dedicated pupils and their wonderful parents, our incredible staff of teachers, secretary and cleaner, our wonderful Parents Association, Board of Management and the amazing wider community of Moynalvey all of whom help make Moynalvey NS a truly special place.
Should you have any queries about our school, please do not hesitate to get in contact. Please visit as frequently as possible, so that you can keep up to date with all the activities in Moynalvey NS.
Warm regards,
Mícheál Brennan
Principal
5th and 6th Class have had a busy first part of the term with a variety of activities.
As part of local history, the students visited the old school. A tour was conducted by Mary Dunne, BoM member and former pupil of Moynalvey NS. Mary told the pupils about life back when she went to school. Our Chairperson Frank, who lives where the old school is located, was also on site to give everyone access. Special thanks to Mary and Frank for making the students experience such a worthwhile lesson.
5th and 6th Class have been playing with Cumman na mBunscol football this year. While there were lots of highs, the season did end with semi and quarter final loses. Although it wasn’t to be, the players conducted themselves excellently.
Finally our 5th and 6th Class visited Navan Racecourse for an educational day. As part of the day the students got to meet the farrier, vet and jockeys. They also got up-close with some of the horses, including the opportunity to pet them. Finally the students got to ride a simulator, to experience horse riding first hand. A great day was had by all.
The students in Ms. McCormack’s 4th Class recently took at trip to Trim Library for the Children’s Book Festival. As part of the day’s events, the students created their own world and an accompanying story. This should be an excellent start for the students who will commence the Narrative in their genre writing in the coming weeks!
Happy Halloween from all in 1st Class. Have a lovely mid-term break!
Our Infants had a great day dressing up for Halloween! Some very spooky costumes.
