The Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum is taught through a range of programmes in Scoil Mhuire from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. These include: The Stay Safe Programme, Relationships and Sexuality and the Walk Tall programme.
The Stay Safe programme is a compulsory aspect of the SPHE curriculum and covers topics based on Feeling Safe/Unsafe, Bullying, Touches, Secrets and Telling and Strangers.
SPHE provides a range of opportunities to foster the personal development and well-being of all pupils in Scoil Mhuire NS and help him/her create and maintain supportive relationships, as well as become an active and responsible citizen in society.
Primary School Children – Nutritional Information
Scoil Mhuire NS has a Healthy Eating Policy in place. Children need a good breakfast to start each day. Children are asked to bring a healthy lunch – (sandwiches, fruit, yoghurts and drinks). Children should not bring sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks or crisps. Glass bottles, cans and chewing gum are also forbidden.
Scoil Mhuire NS also have a company “The Lunch Bag” which deliver an exciting, delicious lunch served in eco-friendly packaging. The healthy school lunch delivery service are a nationwide company which deliver hand crafted lunches fresh every morning.
