6th Class

5th/6th Class News January 2024

Lots happening 5th and 6th class at the moment.

Projects:
The class are currently working on projects on Ancient Rome

Credit Union Quiz:
We have 6 teams entered in to the Credit Union Quiz on Monday 29th January in Skryne. 

Subjects:
They have worked hard on mastering multiplication with decimals and are now working their way through fractions. 
They learned about life in 16th and 17th Century Ireland and created their own short dramas based on what it was like back then. 
We learned how to do some hip hop and rap in music and each group came up with their own short rap that they performed in front of the class!

Science Blast:
We are so excited to be taking part in the ESB Science Blast again this year. Over the month of February, we will have lots of experiments and investigations to carry out to prepare for our big day out in the RDS. 

Grandparents Day:
They are excited to welcome their Grandparents to the school for our annual Grandparents Day celebrations. 

Tours:
We are going to Newgrange on Friday 23rd February 

Sports:

We have entered the Meath Basketball League for the first time and they are so excited to start something new. 

We will begin after school training for the FAI 5 a side soccer competition that will take place in the MDL in Navan in March.

6th Class:

6th class students are having the first experience of their new secondary schools over the coming weeks. We wish them the very best of luck in their entrance exams.

3rd Class

3rd Class News January 2024

Here 3rd class are participating in their maths stations . The stations include; STEMstation, Maths based chrome book station, teacher led station (based on the topic of the week), and  finally, the problem solving station. The maths stations take place every Monday and Wednesday and the children really enjoy the variety of the stations.

2nd Class

2nd Class News January 2024

In SESE, 2nd class enjoyed learning all about the water cycle and the importance of water conservation. As part of the schools goal of receiving another green flag for the theme ‘water’.

2nd class are participating in the Picker Pal litter initiative for 23/24. We completed a live webinar with many other schools who are participating in the programme last week

2nd class has chosen a theme for the book that we are hoping to publish through Cj Fallon as a class. The theme is ‘ In 20 years’ time….. This will encourage the children to write narratives and edit their work, etc. The class came up with such fantastic ideas of how things might be different in 20 years’ time.

Infant News January 2024

This month we have been learning a lot about France in Junior and Senior Infants. We talked about the Eiffel Tower and what materials were used to make the Eiffel Tower as well as different towers and skyscrapers from around the world. We then built our own towers and tested their durability by seeing if they could hold our owl teddy or lego motorbike.

6th class helped us research some facts about France and made some lovely French projects with us.
